“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord… come before his presence with singing” Psalm 100:1-2
For a small, rural congregation, Dervock Presbyterian has a very healthy sized choir of both men and women, young and not so young. However, there’s always room for some more willing volunteers to join. There is no audition and you don’t have to be able to read music. We want people who enjoy making a joyful noise before the Lord. The choir help lead the praise every Lord’s Day in our church, but they also prepare special pieces for some of the special services in our church calendar.
Some of those services are-
- Good Friday Communion and Cantata (a series of pieces that depicted the final few hours of Christ’s life dispersed with bible readings)
- Easter Sunday
- Christmas Candlelight Carol Service
- Harvest
- Communion (May and November)
- Remembrance
Choir practices take place on the lead up to some of these events. We meet for a cup of tea after church and practice from approximately 1:15-2:30pm. We enjoy the fellowship and music together. Any questions, see Mrs Caroline McConaghie.
